4th place finish in Bahrain marks end to Gulf Racing’s Inaugural WEC season

Saturday the 19^th November saw the last race of the 2016 World Endurance Championship take place at the stunning Bahrain International Circuit.

The team travelled to the middle-east determined to once again capitalise on the promising form they have demonstrated all year with the intention to fulfil their ambition of standing on the WEC podium in their first season of racing at World Championship level.

Sadly it was not to be and after showing good pace and reliability through practice and qualifying the team had to settle with fourth again in the race, difficulties with a puncture after Mike’s first stint and very strong performances from the other competitors contributing to the result.

Matt Beers (Team Manager):- ‘Bahrain was our last chance to get up on the podium and we showed we had the pace to get a result straight out of the blocks with Ben Barker storming through to second in class after the first hour. Although we had a good run on from there a puncture in Mike’s first stint and some very strong performances from the other competitors meant we just missed out again.’

‘Our first season has been a steep learning curve but I think we have shown we have the quality in the team to ultimately get results. With great support from Porsche and all our other partners we have had impeccable reliability and great pace in the car. The WEC is a fantastic championship and it’s been a privilege to compete in that environment for us this year.’

‘Plans for 2017 are coming together and more information will be released in that regard soon, for now I’d just like to thank the whole team for a fantastic job this season’.
